Factory workers rarely get a day off to sit in a hospital queue. So the hospital is coming to them. Punjab has rolled out mobile hospitals, clinics and even health bikes that visit factories and workers colonies, and the treatment costs the worker nothing.
This guide explains the Social Security Mobile Health Program in plain words. Who runs it, which districts are covered first, what treatment the units offer, and how a registered worker or his family can actually use the service when a unit shows up.
What Is the Social Security Mobile Health Program
It is a doorstep healthcare program of the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution, known as PESSI. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched it in October 2026 for registered industrial workers and their families.
The idea is simple. Instead of a worker travelling to a social security hospital for every fever, X ray or dental problem, a fleet of mobile units now visits workplaces and nearby homes on planned rounds.

What the Mobile Fleet Carries
The launch fleet has 65 units in total:
- 10 mobile hospitals with OPD, X ray, ultrasound and basic laboratory facilities
- 5 mobile clinics with telemedicine support
- A mobile dental hospital and a mobile cardiac unit
- 40 motorcycles and 10 scooters for quick home visits
The bike teams carry basic medical kits, give first aid and essential medicines, and spread health awareness in workers colonies. The bigger units handle tests on the spot, so many patients finish their whole checkup in a single visit.
Who Can Use the Social Security Mobile Health Program
The service is built for the PESSI community:
- Registered industrial workers covered by social security
- Their family members, who receive care at their doorstep
- Children studying in workers welfare schools
PESSI already treats more than 10 million workers and family members through 24 social security hospitals and 250 medical outlets across Punjab. The mobile fleet simply takes that same system closer to the factory gate. And if your child ever needs specialist heart care, our Punjab Children Heart Surgery Program guide explains the free surgery route in full.

Districts Covered and the Expansion Plan
The first phase covers Lahore, Kasur and Sheikhupura, where more than 4.6 million workers and family members stand to benefit. The government says 12 more districts join by March 2027: Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Rawalpindi.
Two screening drives come with the launch. Mobile teams will screen workers for rheumatic heart disease at 29,845 factories and workplaces in the first three districts. Around 54,000 children in workers welfare schools across Punjab will also be screened for heart conditions, because catching a weak heart early changes everything for a child.
Official updates about Punjab health programs appear on the Punjab Government portal.
How Workers Can Use the Service
You do not apply online for a mobile unit visit. The units follow routes planned with factories and PESSI offices, and field teams stay connected to a digital hub at PESSI headquarters that tracks their movement in real time.
So what can you do? Keep your social security registration and CNIC updated, ask your factory administration or nearest social security office about the unit schedule for your area, and be present when the team arrives. Workers who hold support cards like the Himmat Card should carry them too, since staff can guide a family toward the right welfare desk faster.
