Forestry Department Jobs: 7 GIS Project Posts with Salaries up to Rs 350,000

Not every government ad is about clerks and drivers. The forestry department jobs advertised at the start of November are GIS, drone and animation roles inside a forest protection project, and the top post pays Rs 350,000 a month. The Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department Punjab is hiring seven people across five positions, and the last date to apply is November 15.

Every appointment is on contract for the project period only. Only candidates from Punjab province can apply, and selected candidates cannot later claim a permanent appointment against these posts.

Forestry Department Jobs in the GIS Protection Project

The forestry department jobs sit inside a development project called GIS-Based Protection Regime and Establishment of Digital Communication Cell. It is the department’s push to map and guard Punjab’s forests with satellite data and drones, instead of relying only on field staff reports.

The Animator and the Data Analyst will sit in Lahore, while the geospatial and survey posts can be placed anywhere in Punjab. If you are also tracking other project hiring on the Punjab Job Portal, our Tourism Department jobs guide covers a similar senior project unit advertised this month.

Posts, Grades and Monthly Salaries

The best paid seat is the Animator, graded PPS-08, at Rs 350,000 per month. The Data Analyst follows at Rs 200,000 on PPS-07. Three Assistant Director Geospatial Modelling posts and one Assistant Director Drone & GPS Survey post each pay Rs 157,500 on PPS-07, and the GIS Assistant gets Rs 70,000 on PPS-05.

These are project pay scales, so the figures are the full starting salary for each post, not a basic pay with allowances added later.

How to Apply Online and Send the Hard Copy

Applications for the forestry department jobs are a two step process, and missing either step means rejection. First apply online through the Punjab Job Portal at jobs.punjab.gov.pk. Then print the submitted form and send it with attested photocopies of your CNIC, domicile, academic and experience certificates to Director Geo-Spatial Planning & Monitoring, Forest GIS LAB, 108-Ravi Road Forest Colony, Lahore.

The hard copy must reach the office by November 15, 2026 during office hours, and submitting it is mandatory, not optional. Write the name of the post clearly on the envelope, and file a separate application for each post if you apply for more than one. No TA or DA will be paid. The same portal steps are explained in our PPMU jobs guide if you have never used the portal before.

What the GIS Project Actually Does

The idea behind the project is simple. Punjab’s forests and wildlife areas are too large to watch on foot, so the department is building a geospatial record of them: satellite imagery, drone surveys and GPS field data that show encroachment and tree cover change early. The Digital Communication Cell then turns that work into public content, which is where the Animator fits in.

For GIS graduates, these forestry department jobs are a rare opening where the degree subject itself is the job. The trade off is the project contract, so go in with your eyes open about the time limit.
