Raising calves costs money every single day. Feed, silage and minerals eat into a farmer income long before the animal is ready for sale. The Punjab Livestock Card solves this exact problem. It gives livestock farmers an interest free loan to buy quality feed for their animals.
If you own male calves in Punjab, this guide tells you how much loan you can get, who qualifies, and how to apply with a simple SMS.
What Is the Punjab Livestock Card
The Punjab Livestock Card is a scheme by the Livestock and Dairy Development Department. It is different from the Kisan Card, which covers crop inputs. This card is only for animal feed: wanda, silage and mineral mixtures bought from registered dealers.
The loan is completely interest free. You use it to fatten your calves properly, sell them at a better weight, and return the amount. Healthy animals mean better prices in the market.

How Much Loan Do You Get
The loan is calculated per animal. You get Rs 27,000 per calf. With the maximum limit, a farmer can receive up to Rs 540,000 in total.
You can also withdraw up to 25 percent of the amount in cash for related expenses. The reported tenure is four months with one extra month of grace to repay. Always confirm the current phase terms at the time of applying, since phase rules can be updated.
Who Can Apply for the Livestock Card
You are eligible if you meet these conditions:
- You are a resident of Punjab
- You own 5 to 20 male calves, including cattle and buffalo calves
- You hold a valid CNIC
- You have an active mobile SIM registered in your own name
- Your animals are registered and verified by the Livestock Department
- You have no loan default on record
Farmers already following our CM Punjab loan schemes guide will find this card a natural addition for the livestock side of their farm.
How to Apply for the Livestock Card
Applying is simple. Type PLC, leave a space, type your CNIC number, and send this SMS to 8070. Example: PLC 3520112345678. You receive a confirmation message after your record is checked.
You can also visit your nearest veterinary hospital or livestock facilitation desk. The staff verifies your animals and completes the process. The official portal is widely reported as plc.punjab.gov.pk, and the reported helpline is 0800 09211.

Tips to Get the Most from Your Livestock Card
The card works only at registered dealers, so find the dealer list for your tehsil before you buy feed. Buying from an unregistered shop means the payment will not go through. Always take a receipt and match it with your card statement.
Repay the loan within the given time, including the grace month. Also, keep your animals healthy and tagged, because the Livestock Department verifies the animals under the scheme. Keeping your receipts and records in order makes every step easier.
